Arweave’s network enables the permaweb: a global, community-owned parallel web. Anyone can contribute to the permaweb by paying for storage, and anyone can maintain the permaweb and be compensated through Arweave network’s decentralized incentive system.
The permaweb is a parallel to the Internet, except all of its content — from images to full web apps — is permanent, retrieved quickly and decentralized — forever. Just as the first Internet connected individual nodes across vast distances, the permaweb connects individual nodes over extremely long periods of time.
